Classes (1:1 and Group)
AP Lit is one of the hardest APs to accomplish. The test is designed for students who are extremely adept at reading and writing. Angela’s familiarity with the test, along with her large range of literary expertise, allows her to pace and choose the best selection of material for her students. Angela herself received a 5 on the exam during her high-school time and studied on her own. Her students have received 5’s and 4’s. Classes are three hours in length.
Angela’s Literature classes focus on strengthening analytical and comprehension skills. Without a strong English foundation, students will find it extremely difficult during university application season. With a range of challenging novels, short stories, poems, and classical pieces, the course aims to consolidate the student’s skill set. Angela’s materials are designed to be two grade levels above the student’s current grade level (Example: a Grade 8 student would be reading and writing at a Grade 10 level).
Angela’s specialization is creative writing, as this skill is rarely taught in school. Angela believes that creative writing is just as important as academic writing and is more challenging to succeed at. Her creative writing classes focus on teaching a range of creative genres. This course is designed to teach her students the tools they will be using during the university application season. It is a skillset that is gained over time – introducing this to students early on can allow them to have a head start! Classes are two hours in length.
AP Psychology is known to be a fun course, especially content-wise; however, it is very intensive on memorization. Like any AP, there is a big workload. Angela’s major in Psychology, along with her lab experience, allows her to break down concepts to her students. Angela herself received a 5 on the exam during her high-school time and studied on her own. Her students have all earned 5’s and 4’s. Classes are 3 hours in length.
